Cape Coast, Feb. 5, GNA – An interim Governing Council for the three

teacher training colleges in the Central Region was on Friday inaugurated b= y the Regional Minister, Mrs Ama Benyiwa-Doe in Cape Coast. The three academic facilities are Komenda, OLA and Fosu Colleges of Education. Mrs Benyiwa-Doe called on members of the council to uphold the virtues of integrity, objectivity, co-operation and transparency.

The three councils will serve as an oversight body to exercise supervision over the management of the colleges to ensure their successful migration from the second cycle level to the tertiary status. Mrs Benyiwa-Doe said government was committed to upgrade the teacher training colleges, adding that the training of teachers was very crucial to the successful implementation of Government’s developmental agenda. She said the National Council for Tertiary Education would organise orientation course for members to be educated on their roles and responsibilities. The Regional Director of Education, Mr Sarfo Kantanka said the appointment of the councils for the colleges was long overdue.
