Traditional leader cautions litigation contractors

Big Ada (GAR), Feb. 3, GNA – The President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, Dzetse Nene Abram Kabu Akuaku III, has called on chieftaincy contractors who instigate disputes in the various traditional areas of the Region to desist from the practice. They should also engage their efforts in activities that would help develop the Ga Dangme area.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Nene Akuaku said the numerous chieftaincy disputes within the Ga Traditional Area had brough= t about under-development, community unrest and breaking of families, as well as the causing of financial waste to the detriment of the development of th= e traditional area.

He said local government authorities could not go to certain communities to undertake development projects because of chieftaincy disputes and communal unrests in those places. He said it was worrisome to realize that in some cases, notable academicians supported some of the groups or families who were not eligible to contest any traditional stools but were only out to litigate and prevent the rightful persons from inheriting stools which belonged to them. He appealed to the citizens of the various traditional areas in the Region to ignore such agents, saying that their activities deprived the are= a of the needed development.
