Sunyani records no cases of cholera

Sunyani, Feb. 1, GNA – A senior nursing officer at the Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital in Sunyani, Mrs Emily Amanfo, has dismissed claims that the health facility had recorded cases of cholera and has asked the public not to panic.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani on Monday she said the claim was false and asked the rumour mongers to verify their information with the hospital.

Mrs Amanfo said the hospital had rather recorded some diarrhoeal cases= , especially in the children’s ward, 93with frequent passing of watery sto= ol and vomiting, but that is not=85cholera.” She acknowledged that cholera had the similar symptoms as diarrhoea. Mrs Amanfo stressed the need for the washing of hands with soap before and after eating, and the shunning of cold food. She advised the public to visit the nearest health centre if they detected signs of weakness and passing of frequent watery stool and vomiting.
