NDC Targets 14 Parliamentary Seats In Eastern Region

Mr Tawiah Boateng, Eastern Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), on Friday said the party was poised to win 14 out of the 28 parliamentary seats in the region in the 2012 General Election.

He said the party was also determined to win 54 per cent of the presidential poll in the region. At a meeting with constituency organisers and their assistants in Koforidua, Mr Boateng urged them to work hard to enable them achieve their set goals.

The meeting, which drew organisers from the 28 constituencies in the region was to map up plans to make the party increase its votes in the region in 2012. Mr Boateng said the region “did not belong” to the New Patriotic Party and if the organisers should work harder, they could achieve their set goals.

He said the meeting would assess the performance of the Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCE’s) so that attention could be drawn to issues that needed to be addressed.Mr Boateng advised the organisers to stop agitating for removal of MDCE’s but rather help them do excel by drawing their attention to their wrong doings.

He appealed to founding members and other stakeholders to settle their differences and forge unity to enable the party to retain power.
