Accra, Jan. 13, GNA – Household products manufacturer, PZ Cussons an= d the Ghana Medical Association, have signed a two-year agreement aimed to promote health hygiene and cleanliness throughout the country. The two institutions would collaborate to inculcate good personal hygiene such as hand washing, kitchen cleaning, and personal hygiene among other practices.
The health promotion would be done through campaigns in schools, engagement with women groups and various associations.
Camel, a leading antiseptic brand with more than 55 per cent market share, would be used as the main ingredient for the campaign. Jim Judson, Managing Director of PZ Ghana Limited, a listed company on the Ghana Stock Exchange, said the collaboration sought to encourage hygien= e among Ghanaians whilst informing people to remain healthy all the time. He described as unprecedented the deal with GMA, saying the two institutions were in good position to contribute to healthy lives of people in society.
Mr Judson urged Ghanaians to use antiseptics in washing, cleaning and bathing, since it is the most efficient way to get rid of germs. Dr Emmanuel Adom Winful, President of GMA, welcomed the partnership, saying the partnership fitted perfectly into the objectives of the GMA’s social responsibility of educating people on health matters and the need to take medical issues critically. “Over the years, GMA has been looking for partners to push this agen= da. We are therefore grateful to PZ for partnering us,” he said. Camel antiseptic was launched in 1992 and quickly became a success on the Ghanaian market. It contains anti-micro bacterial agents like terpineol= , pine oil and dichlorometa-xylenol, which helps to protect against germs tha= t can cause skin infections.
