District Level Elections take off smoothly after postponement

Cape Coast, Dec. 30, GNA – Voting went on smoothly on Thursday in all the 156 electoral areas in the Central Region as the Electoral Commission (EC) was able to provide all the materials and logistics needed for the exercise. A visit by the Ghana News Agency to some polling centres in Cape Coast showed that 1,141 of the 3,465 registered voters of four polling centres ha= d cast their votes between 13:47 hours and 14:15 hours in the district assembly and unit committee elections.

At the Mpeasem Centre, voters had formed a long queue waiting anxiousl= y to be attended to despite the scorching sun. Miss Grace Eshun, Mr Victor Flow Mensah and Mr Yaw Asiedu, presiding officers for Mpeasem, Messiah Healing Camp and AME Zion School centres respectively said they had not encountered any problem and expressed the hope for high turnout of electorates. Mr Samuel Tettey, Regional Director of the EC, said the exercise was on-going without any hitch or incidence.
