Candidates urged to preach peace

Koforidua, Dec. 23, GNA – The New Juaben Municipal Director of the Electoral Commission, Ms Lydia Agyiri, has called on candidates for the district assembly election to preach peace in their campaigns. Ms Agyiri was speaking at a platform organized by the Institute of Democratic Governance (IDEG) in collaboration with the Electoral Commission (EC) at Koforidua to present candidates for the Osabene-Mile 50, Adweso Estate and Adweso Town electoral areas to the electorate. Mr Lawrence Bampoe of IDEG said IDEG, in collaboration with the Civic Forum Initiative (CFI) and the EC, is organizing the platform to help deepened democracy in the country.

He said it is expected that such projects would help in the mobilization of people to actively participate in the election and called o= n the candidates and the electorates to be tolerant. The seven candidates for the three electoral areas including three women were made to address the gathering and answered questions.
