NADMO appeals to chiefs for support

Tongo (U/E), Dec 1, GNA – The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the Talensi/Nabdam District has appealed to chiefs, assembly members and opinion leaders to share their experiences with the Organisation to enable it to educate the public on effects of bushfires and how to prevent them.

Mr Mahamma Ken-Kazar, District Coordinator, said this would help to minimize rampant bush burning, indiscriminate felling of trees and charcoal burning. He told journalists at Tongo that these activities were destroying the vegetation in the district. Mr Ken-Kazar said this support would help boost the spirit of NADMO to organize periodic workshops to highlight more on disaster issues. He appealed to the government to provide the district office with a vehicle and other logistics and urged World Vision International to continue assisting NADMO. 01 Dec 10
