KATH signs MOU with two Chinese institutions

Kumasi, Nov 18, GNA – Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with two leading Chinese medical institutions to enhance its core competences in tertiary health care services, training and research. Professor Ohene Adjei, Chief Executive Officer of KATH, said he signed the document with Nanjing Medical University and Wenzhou Medical College during a recent visit to China.

Dr Di Chen, President of NMU, and Professor Chen Xiaoming, Vice President of WMC, signed for their institutions. Speaking to newsmen in Kumasi, he said they are also exploring collaboration in research and training with the Centre for Infectious Diseases of the Beijing You’an Hospital. He said the decision to seek special partnership with prestigious Chinese institutions was inspired by the growing relationship between the governments of the two countries.

“The emergence of China as a global leader in the field of technology is now the envy of most countries and the collaboration provides an opportunity to tap into the rich and diverse best practices of our Chinese counterparts.” Prof Adjei said they would initially concentrate on training, provision of specialist clinical services and research through exchange programmes. 18 Nov 10
