Council Of State Member Calls For Peaceful Co-existence

Damongo (N/R), 9 June – Hajia Fati Jawula, a member of the council of state, has called on traditional rulers to continue to pursue and maintain peace among the various ethnic groups in their areas. She said the loss of lives and wanton destruction of property during such ethnic conflicts are not rpt not only dehumanising but they retard the progress and development of the areas concerned. Hajia Jawula made the appeal when she paid a courtesy call on the Yagbonwura Safo Amantana Bore-Nyiche the second, paramount chief of the Gonja traditional area at Damongo at the weekend. She called on the Yagbonwura to readily release land to non-governmental organisations and other organisations to support the various development projects of the area. On girl-child education, she stressed the need for parents to attach importance to it.
