Social Inauguration Association GTUC selected to research into mobile health
Accra, Nov 10, GNA – The Danish government has selected the Ghana Telecom University College to research into mobile health and other health related matters in information technology. Other institutions also chosen were the University of Ghana, Legon and Kwame Nkrumah University to do same. Dr Osei K. Darkwa, President of the Ghana Telecom University College, announced this when he inaugurated the university’s lectures association (GTUCLA) on Tuesday in Accra. Dr Darkwa said the university’s recognition for the selection was attained through the sustained efforts of the lecturers and urged them not to rest on their oar but to propel the institution to a higher level.
He said the university was on the verge to become the best Information Communication Technology institution in the Sub-Saharan Africa and appealed for support from the government to assist it through the GETFund to complete its new lecture halls, administration block, cafeteria and the ICT centre to enable it admit more students. Mr Thomas Henaku, Chairman of the GTUCLA, said he and his colleagues had resolved to push the institution more on ICT and other important fields to achieve the goals of the university. He said the aim of forming the association was to bring the concerns and welfare of members on board for redress and also help develop the university community as well as bridge the communication gap between the lecturers and the authorities. The five-member executive was sworn into office by Mr Darkwa with Mr Thomas Henaku as Chairman and Mr Ganyo Amegashie as Secretary respectively.
