Church should focus on bringing peace and progress

Nsuta (Ash), Oct 27, GNA – The Reverend Emmanuel Kojo Osei has been inducted as District Minister of the Presbyterian Church for Nsuta with a call on the church to focus more on bringing peace and progress to society. It should help to calm tension, unite the people and encourage them to appreciate their common humanity. The Rev Osei Sarpong, the Sekyere Presbytery Chairman, who performed the induction ceremony, said this in a sermon. He asked that Christians should set inspire society to purity and greatness by upholding the values of integrity, humility, modesty, tolerance and love.

He condemned the creeping indiscipline, greed and selfishness in the church and called for solutions to these evils to before they come cancerous.

The Rev Sarpong counseled the District Minister to be fair, open and transparent in his dealings with the people. Rev Osei said the greatest challenge facing the church and the nation today was over politicization of national issues and appealed to all Ghanaians, especially politicians, to be tolerant of opposing views. They should avoid insults and reckless utterances that could incite ethnic tensions and hatred. 2
