Top police officers in Volta Region to go on road checks

Ho, Oct. 21, GNA – All senior police officers in the Volta Region are to join personnel of the Motor Transport and Traffic Unit (MTTU) of the Police Service on road checks.

The Volta Regional Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police David Nenyi Ampah-Bennin, told the meeting of senior police officers at Ho on Wednesday that this would ensure that drivers complied fully with traffic regulations.

He said road accidents were causing much loss to the state and appealed to police personnel to be abreast with the road traffic act. “Road accidents do not just occur. They are due to human, mechanical or other factors,” he said and added that police officers of all ranks pay maximum attention to roads in the region to curb accidents.

Mr Isaac Kodobissah, Ho Municipal Chief Executive, commended the Command for ensuring peace in the Municipality and the Region as a whole and pledged the readiness of the Assembly to support its efforts. “Though the Assembly does not have enough, we would do our best to support all efforts to maintain peace in the Municipality.”
