Used Plastic Sheets could be re-cycled-Nuamah

Takoradi, Oct. 18, GNA – Major Rex Nuamah (rtd), the President of Western Regional Sachet Water Producers Association, has appealed to members of the association to co-operate with regulatory bodies to minimize indiscriminate disposal of used plastic sheets or sachets.

He said this at the general meeting and election of regional executives of the association at Takoradi on Saturday.

Maj. Nuamah said co-operation between sachet water producers and regulatory bodies could result in formulation of workable measures to check indiscriminate disposal of used plastic sheets.

He appealed to the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly to establish a small plant for the re-cycling of used plastic sheets.

Maj. Nuamah said the sheets could be crashed and sold to manufacturers to produce earrings and decorative bags among other items.

He said the plant could create jobs for the youth who could collect used plastic and sell them to the plant.
