Accra, Oct. 18, GNA – The Association of Private Security Organizations, Ghana, (APSOG) on Monday condemned the activities of a group of persons who were arrested at Adjiri Ganno, near East Legon, on Tuesday October 5, claiming to be members of the Association. “The Association of Private Security Organizations, Ghana, dissociates itself from the illegal and unruly act of banditry exhibited by the group and vehemently condemns it in no uncertain terms,” it said in a statement issued in Accra.
The release signed by Captain Anthony Kwesi Acquah (Rtd), Chairman of APSOG, said the arrested persons and their company, Kofi Anum Family/KRM Services, were not members of the Association. It said all members of the Association were licensed by the Ministry of the Interior and operated under the Private Security Organizations, LI 1992 of the Police Service Act, 1970 (Act 350). It stressed that private security companies were not permitted by law to carry firearms.
Captain Acquah (Rtd) noted that members of APSOG operated under a code of conduct agreed upon by members.
He assured the public of continued lawful service delivery and advised the public to report any suspicious activities to the police for action.
