Senya Beraku, (C/R) Oct 17, GNA – The youth of Senya Beraku on Sunday held its second demonstration in two weeks to end the dispute thwarting the installation of a chief to champion the development of the town.
They said the protracted chieftaincy dispute was affecting the development of the town.
In a statement, read to the media, after the demonstration by Mr Oscar Amissah, President of the Concerned Youth Group, they said: “We
are tired of the long-standing dispute and appeal to those involved to say goodbye to every anti-development spirit and welcome peace into their hearts.”
It said the dispute had increased poverty the levels among the people and encouraged indiscriminate sand winning by some contractors from outside the area.
Mr Kenneth Koomson, an opinion leader of the town, expressed the hope that the two royal families engaged in the dispute would give peace a chance in the interest of the Senya community.
Copies of the statement were given to the Urban Council, Awutu-Senya District Assembly and the Police.
