Parents must place premium on kids’ education

Awukugua Akuapem, Oct. 16, GNA – Mr Woode Asamoah, headmaster of the Awukugua United Junior High School, (JHS) has urged parents and guardians to place a high premium on their children’s education for their future prosperity.

He observed that if parents would see the education of their wards as a good investment and provide them with all the necessary support such as payment of fess, provision of books and school uniforms, they would reap good returns in future.

Mr Asamoah has, therefore, appealed to parents and guardians not to relent in their efforts to support their wards to where their academic brilliance would take them to.

Addressing a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), meeting of the school at Awukugua, on Friday, Mr Asamoah expressed concern about the attitude of some parents towards their children’s education, which he described as unacceptable.

He indicated that education has been placed as the number one foundation of development in this modern age and any community which refuses to recognize that would suffer.

Mr Asamoah said the results of this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results was far better than the previous years and commended the teachers for good work done.

He urged them to work hard to make next year’s results far better than this year one and appealed to parents and the school development committee to support the teachers.

Mr Asamoah said this year the school admitted more first year students, which had compelled the PTA to create additional classroom to accommodate them.

The PTA chairman, Mr Stephen Larbi, commended the headmaster and the staff for the good work they are doing for the school and appealed to parents and guardians to motivate the teachers to put up their best.
