Boy, 10 arrested for stealing mobile phone

Winneba, Oct. 6, GNA – The Winneba police have arrested a 10-year-old boy who stole a mobile phone belonging to a female student of the University of Education, Winneba, Miss Barbara Azure, from her rented room.

Detective Police Inspector Victor Darke told the GNA that on October 1 the boy entered Miss Azure’s room through the window and stole the phone while she was asleep. Inspector Darke said when the woman woke up the boy jumped through the window and escaped but he was later arrested by some neighbours and the phone found on him. The people handed him over to the police and he admitted the offence.

The boy told the police that he was aided by an adult to commit the offence and police are investigating. Inspector Darke said the police have reported the matter to the Department of Social Welfare because of the age of the boy.
