German Medical Students donate to the Kumasi South Hospital

Kumasi, Oct 4, GNA – Twenty Medical Students from the Regency University in Germany have donated medical equipment valued at 20,000 Euros to the staff and management of the Kumasi South Hospital, at a ceremony in Kumasi.

The equipment included a BB 1400 blood bank refrigerator, EEG-undetectable-structure, Ultrasound fog machine-basic monitor, EKG-monitor, nutrition pump and some system for transmission and sucking machines.

Making the presentation on behalf of her mates, Miss Evelyn Akua Achiaa Kusi, a 25-year old Ghanaian Medical student, said the donation was their widow’s mite towards the improvement of the facilities at the hospital She expressed hope the donation would greatly enhance health delivery at the hospital. Receiving the items, Dr Boakye Agyeman, Director of Clinical Care of the Ashanti Regional Health Directorate, commended the students for the gesture.

He challenged health personnel to make good use of the resources available to help promote quality health care delivery. Dr Frank Abebreseh, Medical Director in-charge of the KSH, said the donation would also enhance efforts being made by the government and other stakeholders to meet the Millennium Development Goals to reduce infant mortality and maternal health. He pledged to make good use of the equipment and appealed to individuals, churches and organizations to emulate the gesture and donate generously either in cash or kind to the hospital.
