People not aware of tonight’s census

Takoradi, Sept 28, GNA – A survey conducted by the Ghana News Agency on Monday showed that most people especially traders and school children did not know much about the Housing and Population Census. Kweku Opoku, an insecticide seller, said he had not heard anything about the exercise.

Abigail Mensah, a student of Bompeh Secondary Technical School, laughed when asked about the exercise.

Gifty Opoku, a banker said the enumerators must carry an identity card adding, “People should not allow them to enter their houses, they can stand at the gate and ask questions”. Aunt Bee, a cloth seller who seemed to know something about the exercise, called on residents to be vigilant as some people might use the exercise to commit crime.
