Census starts on quite note in Tamale

Tamale, Sept. 27, GNA – The 2010 Population and Housing Census, last night kick started in Tamale, the Northern Regional capital, on a quite note with most of the people co-operating with the enumeration officials.

Some residents of the Metropolis complained to the Ghana News Agency that education on the census had not been sufficient. Ghana National Fire Service tenders and Information service vans touted sirens last night to begin the census night. Mr Thomas Azoure, Regional Statistician said all materials needed for the census had been supplied from Accra and are been dispatched to the districts while the census enumerators are also on their way to their assigned locations.

He said the regional and district offices of Ghana Health Service would assist the enumerators going to flood prone areas with life jackets.
