Government asked to extend development to Tei Mensah

Tei Mensah (E/R), Sept 21, GNA – The people of Tei Mensah, a farming community near Suhum in the Eastern Region, have appealed to Government to extend development projects to the area, to enhance their lifestyles.

The Mbrantehene (chief of the youth), Mr Emmanuel Akunor complained that the community did not benefit from the District Assembly’s Common Fund and the Member of Parliament’s Development Fund. Mr Akunor in an interview with GNA said the people could not transport their cocoa, citrus, banana and foodstuffs to the market centres because roads leading to the community were in deplorable state. He said the community lacked public toilet, good drinking water, health facilities and schools.

Mr Akunor gave the assurance that the traditional rulers of Tei Mensah would release land for any government project, adding that the people were ready to offer communal labour.

Mr George Siaw, Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association of the Local Authority Primary School in Tei Mensah, appealed to Government to build classrooms for the school.

Mr Alex Gyimah and Mr Magnet Osei both elders of the town also appealed to the Ministry of Education and the District Assembly to support the school to promote teaching and learning in the area.
