Muslims urged to maintain virtues of fast

Kumasi, Sept 10, GNA – The Voltarian Co-ordinating Council (VCC) has appealed to Muslims to let the virtues of peace and humility that guided them through the 30-day fast reflect their daily lives and all their endeavours.

It said by continuously exhibiting these virtues, Muslim communities could bring swift positive transformation to bear on the individual Ghanaian and the nation as a whole.

This was contained in a congratulatory message to mark the Eid-ul-Fitr festival, signed by Togbui Mawufeame Fugah, President of VCC, and issued in Kumasi, on Friday.

The message said Muslims, like those of other religious sects, owed it a duty to explore all avenues not only to bring peace and stability to the nation but also to seek mechanism for their sustenance.

“As a religion of peace, followers of Islam owe it a duty to enhance peace in all forms,” the statement said.

It, therefore, stressed the need for them and other religious organizations to link up and dialogue with the government in charting the way forward for sustainable peace in the country.
