Takoradi, Sept 5, GNA – Vehicle owners have been advised to stop buying cheap
imported second-hand tyres because they are not fit for road usage and contribute to
motor accidents. Mr. Hubert Hayek, the Area Sales Manager of Vulco, a subsidiary company of Rana
Motors – Ghana, noted that the used tyres had been rejected from their countries of
origin because they had been found to be not road worthy. “Equally, therefore, we must also realise that they are not good for the African
continent,” he explained. Mr Hayek, who was opening a showroom for Vulco, in Takoradi, at the weekend,
advised vehicle owners to patronize good quality and high standard tyres to reduce
motor accidents and the carnage on our roads. The Vulco showroom would offer services such as wheel alignment, oil change, tyre
repairs, genuine parts, car fittings, hose assembling, and others. It would also sell automobile parts. Mr. Hayek said Ghana falls within a climate zone with high temperatures, therefore,
the protective tread on tyres tend to fade out early because of the hot road surface,
saying, “in view of this, there is the need to change car tyres often to avoid frequent
motor accident on our roads.” Mr Vinay Kapoor, deputy managing director of Rana Motors-Ghana, stressed that it
is important to use quality products to ensure road safety. He said his outfit would offer: “Expert technical advice, best customer care and top
