Two armed robbers jailed 15 years each

Fiapre(B/A), Sept. 2, GNA – A circuit court at Fiapre near Sunyani on Thursday sentenced Opoku Agyemang, 29, a mason and Constant Sovor, 20, also known as Kwasi Ayivor, unemployed, to 15 years each in prison for robbery, causing damage to gates and conspiracy to commit crime, to wit robbery.

They both pleaded guilty to all the three charges and each is to serve 15 years for each offence, which are to run concurrently.

Prosecuting, Superintendent Frederick K. Adjei, told the court presided by Mr. Benjamin Osei that on August 26 the police received information about an armed robbery at Berlin Top in Sunyani.

He said the police dispatched a patrol team to the scene where the two were arrested.

One locally manufactured pistol, four cartridges, one laptop, two mobile phones, two ladies slippers, GHC 20.00 and 130 Naira were found on them.

Mr Adjei said the robbers caused damage to the gates of the victims’ house and armed with the pistol and cutlass robbed them of a bag containing the items.
