MTTU Commander pleads for repair of road

Anyinamso-Number-Two, (Ash) Aug 23, GNA – The Atwima District Commander of the Police Motor Traffic Transport Unit, (MTTU) has to appealed the Ghana Highways Authority to urgently fix the poor sections of the Kumasi-Bibiani road to check the increasing motor accidents.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Minta Asare said drivers, many a time, crash their vehicles head-on-into others as they try to avoid the numerous potholes on the road.

Some also lose control of their vehicles, resulting in fatalities.

ASP Minta told the Ghana News Agency that the section of the road between Anyinamso and Betinko had become ‘an accident black spot.’

The interview follows an accident in which a Toyota mini-bus ran into a Metro Mass Transit bus, killing the driver of the mini-bus, Kofi Asare, instantly.

Earlier, an Urvan bus and a salon car had crashed head-on at the same spot. The driver of the bus, Kofi Boadi, died on arrival at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

The MTTU Commander said everything must be done to rehabilitate the dangerous spots to help save lives.

He also cautioned drivers, who ply the highway, to be more careful to bring down the bloodshed.
