Maj Gen Jn Adinkrah Leads Ghanaian Delegation On A Visit To Ghanaian Troops Serving In Lebanon

A Ghanaian delegation led by Maj Gen Joseph Adinkrah, the Chief of Army Staff has visited Ghanaian troops serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), from 8 – 14 August 2010.

The delegation paid a courtesy call on the Force Commander of UNIFIL, Maj Gen Alberto Asarta Cuevas and also held interactions with the Deputy Force Commander, Brig Gen Santi Bonfanti, the Sector West Commander, Brig Gen Guisseppe Nicola Tota and other high ranking personalities from UNIFIL and the Lebanese Armed Forces.

As part of the visit, the delegation also participated in the Ghanbatt 72 Medals Presentation Parade held at the Ghanbatt Headquarters, Al-Qawzah in South Lebanon, on Thursday 12 August 2010.

After touring some of the Ghanbatt positions on Friday 13 August 2010, the Chief of the Army Staff held an all ranks durbar to climax the visit. Maj Gen Adinkrah entreated Ghanaian troops to strife hard to maintain the high standards that they had set in the UNIFIL Area of Operations since being deployed in the mission.

He commended the contingent for excelling in their operational duties which had won them lots of praises from the UNIFIL hierarchy and Lebanese Armed Forces. Accordingly, Maj Gen Adinkrah challenged the troops not to rest on their oars but rather keep up the good work in order to maintain the confidence that UNIFIL had reposed in them.

As part of the durbar, the Chief of Army Staff and some members of the delegation also briefed troops on developments back home in Ghana. They spoke on operational, administrative, logistics and welfare matters in the Ghana Armed Forces and other issues of national importance.

The delegation was accompanied on the visit by Ghana’s Defence Advisor based in Egypt, Air Commodore Issifu Kadri. The members comprised: Col Emmanuel Nibo from the Ghana Armed Forces General Headquarters, Col Sally Odoi-Gyampo from the Ghana Army, Group Captain Noble Dzokoto from the Ghana Air Force, Commander Emmanuel Wayoe from the Ghana Navy and Captain David Addi, the ADC to the Chief of Army Staff.
