Kwesi Annoh’s demise is a double loss – Doe Adjaho

Accra, Aug. 21, GNA – The remains of the late Mr Kwesi Annoh Ankama, Member of Parliament for Atiwa in the Eastern Region, was on Friday flown home from London.

It was on board a KLM flight, which touched the tarmac of the Kotoka International Airport at about 1830 hours. He was 53.

Mr Ankama was on a government delegation to the UK when he fell sick but died on July 1, 2010.

The body was met on arrival by the leadership of Parliament and some Members of Parliament.

Professor Emeritus Kojo Amoaku, MP for Abuakwah North received the body on behalf of the bereaved family.

Mr Doe Adjaho, First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, who stood for the Speaker, said the death of Mr Ankoma was a double loss to the state.

He explained that Mr Ankama, who he knew 30 years ago, was a successful lawyer and died in active service as an MP.

“He deserved to be given a state burial,” he said and thanked President John Evans Atta Mills for giving the directive to that effect.

Mr Adjaho said the state would pay all his medical bills.

Receiving the body, Prof. Emeritus Amoaku thanked all the MPs and the entire family members for coming to receive the body of the fallen colleague.

Mr Ankama would be buried on August 28, 2010 at Abomoso in the Eastern Region.

The NPP MP until his death served on the Subsidiary Legislation Committee, Judiciary Committee, Local Government and Rural Development Committee of Parliament.
