Police, Armed Robbers in Shoot Out

A JOINT police-military patrol in the Kumasi metropolis on July 2, this year, clashed with five suspected armed robbers. Two of the armed robbers died from gun shots whilst three managed to escape.

The bodies of the dead, who are yet to be identified, are deposited at the Komfo Anokye Hospital mortuary.

Briefing newsmen at his office, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Mr. George Asiama, said they had a tip-off that the armed robbers had mounted a road block on the Kumasi-Accra road and robbing innocent traders.

He said the patrol team on duty was informed of the robbers act and they came face to face with the robbers resulting in the exchange of fire.
