Trans Ghana Communication launches Inmarsat

Accra, Aug. 18, GNA – Trans Ghana Communication, importers of technological equipment, on Wednesday launched a new low cost broadcast service onto the media landscape.

The service known as International Marine Satellite (Inmarsat) would afford users the opportunity to broadcast news live with high class satellite equipment at affordable prices.

It was launched at a seminar attended by stakeholders in the media to provide them key solutions to low cost broadcasting.

Mr. Michael Asa-Eck, Chief Executive Officer of Trans Ghana Communications, launching the Inmarsat said the company was a leading provider of global mobile satellite communication and provided voice and high speed data services to anywhere on earth; land, sea or air.

He said the service launched in 1979 had been at the forefront of mobile satellite service for over 30 years as it continued to introduce new technologies that redefined the standard for the broadcasting industry, making it possible for broadcasters to beam breaking news from remote locations into homes.

Mr. Nadeem Khan, Solutions Manager of Inmarsat, appealed to broadcasting organisations to utilise the service because it was affordable and of high quality.

He said full installation of the service cost 21,000 dollars and media houses that could not afford the full installation could make use of the service by paying 750 dollars every month.

Mr. Khan cited British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Cable News Network (CNN), Aljazeera, Associated Press (AP) and South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) as some of the leading news agencies utilising Inmarsat.
