Ashanti Region GBA withdraws services

Kumasi (Ash), Aug. 18, GNA – The Ashanti Regional branch of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has in solidarity with the Judiciary resolved to withdraw its services forthwith.

The decision is in protest against what it described as the “blatant attempt by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to intimidate the Chief Justice and Judges.

A statement issued at an emergency meeting held in Kumasi by the Association at the Kumasi Courts Complex on Wednesday, said the tone of the statement issued on August 17 by the NDC, amounted to intimidation and threat to the Chief Justice

and the Judges.

The statement, signed by Mr Joseph Osei Kofi, Acting Regional President of

the GBA, said their resumption of work would be contingent upon a definite decision to

be taken by the National Bar Council as to the line of action to be taken to address “this

veiled threat to the rule of law in the nation”.
