Kyekyewere (W/R), Aug. 17, GNA – Nana Asaa Kofi 111, Chief of Wassa Fiase Kyekyewere, has said the advancement in technology made it important for nations to take education of their citizens serious.
He said without education many developing nations would be marginalized and would not be in a position to take advantage of the advancement in technology.
Nana Kofi said this at a sod cutting for work to begin on a 6,000-dollar library for the Kyekyewere community and its environs.
The 200 capacity children and adults’ library will have computers and internet connectivity and is being sponsored by the development chief of the town, Nana Benewaree Boafo.
Nana Kofi said it was unfortunate that libraries, which promote education, were not available in severalschools and this had deprived many children in rural communities from moving higher on the academic ladder.
He commended the development chief and his friends for the support and pledged to work hard for the early completion of the library.
Nana Kofi said Nana Benewaree Boafo and his three friends had adopted the Kyekyewere community as their home and have been visiting the town.
Mr. Francis Van-Ess, Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Director of the Ghana Library Board, appealed to parents to encourage their children to make use of the library when it is completed.
Mr. Enock K. Appiah, the Headmaster of the Kyekyewere Municipal Authority School, said the library would help children in Kyekyewere, Nkwanta, Tetreme, Bowobrayie and Mmetemeba.
He said the school had started an evening school and this had improved the academic performance of the school.
