Churches urged to educate the youth on discipline

Nkawkaw, Aug, 16, GNA – The Kwahu West Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Alex Obeng Somuah, at the weekend, challenged Churches to educate the youth, to lead upright lives to reduce the high rate of indiscipline in the society.

He said increasing immoral activities, such as armed robbery, drug peddling, stealing of electricity cables and other social vice among the youth was worrying and called for concerted efforts from churches to address the situation.

Mr Somuah made the call at the Nkawkaw area 75th Anniversary celebration of the Apostolic Church of Ghana at Nkawkaw.

He said as partners in development, churches had a major role to play to curb indiscipline in the society, by ensuring regular education for the youth on immoral activities.

Mr Somuah advised the youth to bury their political differences and support Government policies and programmes to ensure the success of the Government 93Better Ghana Agenda”.

Speaking on the theme 93Grace is thy faithfulness”, the Vice President of the Church, Apostle Julius Senuvie, said the church would continue to grow and contribute towards the development of the country.

He urged the church to use the celebration to examine their success and failures and improve upon their performances to win more souls for Christ.

The Nkawkaw area Superintendent, Apostle Victor Appiah, said the area, which was created 26 years ago, now has 10 districts in the Kwahu and New Abirem districts.

He said the church had established a basic education school at Nkawkaw and is now constructing a 10-room mission house for the area apostle, which is being financed by members of the church.

Apostle Appiah said about 80 members of the church, who left the church 10 years ago, to form a new church, had now rejoined the mother church.
