Disasters Volunteers in Akuapim South Municipal engaged in farming

Nsawam, Aug. 11, GNA – The Disaster Volunteers Group (DVG) in the Akuapim South Municipality, has cultivated ten acres of cassava and maize in Dego, Djatsui and Pakro communities in the municipality.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday, after inspecting the farms, Mr Kwabena Asante, the NADMO Co-ordinating Director for Akuapim South said the group decided to engage in 93this income generation activity, to enhance their living standards with the proceeds from their farms.

He said more of the volunteer groups have acquired lands to go into incoming generating activities and appealed to chiefs and landlords in the municipality to offer lands for the farming.

Mr Asante said the NADMO had drawn up a programme to train the various groups in fire fighting, so that they could assist in domestic and bush fires disasters during the dry season.
