Kumasi, Aug. 11, GNA – The Ashanti Regional Education Director, Mr Joseph Kwabena Onyinah, has urged teachers to stick to professional ethics and work hard to raise academic performance in the schools.
He said they needed to put in more efforts to prepare pupils and students not only for examinations but for life time careers.
He was addressing a two-day workshop organized by the Fomena T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School (SHS) to improve teaching and learning.
Mr Onyinah said there was the need to inject discipline in schools and make effective use of the contact hours.
He said the Ghana Education Service (GES) was determined to develop the human resource base of the Service and assist the personnel to adopt the right attitudes, skills and knowledge to enhance performance.
The Regional Education Director said 93no country can afford to neglect the education of its youth since an ignorant society cannot explore and develop its natural resources to improve the living standard of the people.”
Mr Onyinah praised the school authorities for the initiative and foresight and said, capacity building of all categories of GES personnel was crucial for quality education delivery.
Miss Zainab Adams, the Headmistress, said the workshop was aimed at helping to equip them with the requisite professional skills and asked the participants to take it more seriously.
