Second cycle schools in Builsa get 8.5 Million facelift

Sandema (U/E), July 25, GNA – Three second cycle schools in the Builsa District in the Upper East Region are to get additional school infrastructure valued at GH¢8,533,677.27 to smoothly commence the four-year programme.

The move is part of government’s intervention to provide accommodation and other infrastructure for senior high schools in the country.

The projects are additional dinning halls, dormitories, classroom blocks and assembly halls for the Fumbisi Senior High, Sandema Senior High and Sandema Secondary Technical Schools.

This was made known when Heads of the schools accompanied the Upper East Regional Minister, Mr Mark Woyongo, to inspect the various projects.

At the Sandema Senior High, a contractor, Mr Evans Abole, working on a dinning hall, had abandoned the project for about six months and his where about is not known.

Mr Woyongo was however not happy with the attitude of some of the contractors who had been paid mobilization but failed to complete their work on time.

The Minster appealed to contractors who had taken contracts to put the interest of the state at heart and work hard for the achievement of the better Ghana Agenda.

Mr Robert Aduko Anaba, Project Consultant, assured the Minister that the projects would be strictly supervised for early completion.

The Headmaster of Sandema Senior High, Mr Ababu Afelibik, expressed dissatisfaction at the pace of work by some of the contractors and called on the regional minister to intervene.

He lamented that the school was facing accommodation problems and this was affecting the academic performance of the school.
