BNI arrests three illegal mining equipment manufacturers

Shama (W/R), July 25, GNA – The Bureau of National Investigation (BNI), Saturday night arrested three persons suspected to be manufacturers of illegal mining equipment at Beposo Nkran near Takoradi.

The suspects, who are assisting the BNI in its investigations, are Richard Quaicoe, Abraham Mensah and Dodzi Atsu Koni.

They were handed over to the Beposo Police after the arrest and were released and asked to report to the BNI at Sekondi.

Meanwhile, Mr Isaac Kwakye, Shama District Coordinating Director, on Sunday led newsmen to inspect the workshop of the suspects at Beposo Nkran.

The team saw some equipment manufactured by the suspects and there were signs that they were brewing local gin known as akepteshie, as a cover up to their operations.
