Farmer to hang for murder

Ho, July 20, GNA – A Ho High Court presided over by Mr Justice Kofi Essel Mensah on Tuesday sentenced Kwabla Abiwu, 50, to death by hanging for murder.

A seven member jury found Abiwu guilty after a trial lasting four years.

Ms Comfort Tasiame, Assistant State Attorney, told the Court that at about 1100 hours on July 10, 2006, Kwaotsey Legbah, 90, visited his sick nephew, one Johnson Addai at Gbetekpo near Juapong.

Ms Tasiame said on reaching Addai’s house, Abiwu who lived nearby, rushed on Legbah and hit him several times with a galvanized pipe until Legbah fell unconscious and died.

She said one Atsufie Kwamevi who was at the scene raised the alarm attracting a crowd that arrested Abiwu as he tried to run away and handed him over to the Police.
