Fire destroys Mankranso SHS Boys’ Dormitory

Mankranso (Ash), July 12, GNA – Fire last Sunday gutted the boys’ dormitory of the Mankranso Senior High School (SHS), causing extensive damage to property. About 120 students lost all their personal belongings in the fire, which also destroyed the roofing of the structure, wooden beds and mattresses. No one was hurt.

The Ashanti Regional Director of Education, Mr Joseph Kingsley Onyinah, has visited the school to inspect the damage and to express his sympathy to the affected students. He said he was happy with measures the school authorities had taken to ensure that academic work was not interrupted. Mr Raphael K. Amakwaah, who conducted Mr Onyinah round, said the cause of the fire had not yet been established. The Regional Director later inspected two six-unit classroom blocks being built for the school by the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA).

The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) is also funding the construction of another six-unit classroom block, an office and store.
