Asante-Mampong takes delivery of school uniforms and books

Mampong (Ash), July 6, GNA – The Asante-Mampong Municipal Assembly has taken delivery of 2,000 school uniforms and 49,956 exercise books for free distribution to needy school children. This is in fulfilment of President John Evans Atta Mills’ election promise of free uniforms and books to schools. At a ceremony held in connection with the event, Mr Daniel Appau-Ohyeamang, the Municipal Chief Executive, urged the people to be patient with the government as it worked hard to make life better for all Ghanaians. He said they would ensure that conditions in deprived schools in the Municipality improved. The MCE said the Municipal Assembly would do all it could to make sure that the situation where some schools hold classes under trees and sheds, ended. Mr Frank Yaw Musah, the Municipal Director of Education, urged the beneficiary children to make good use of the items. He advised parents to desist from using their children as farm hands and said they should rather put them in school. 06 July 10
