Ghana to implement SIM card registration

The National Communications Authority of Ghana is implementing a new policy stating that all telecom operators in Ghana must register subscribers’ SIM cards.

From July 1, 2010 new SIM card holders will have to provide their personal details backed by an official national identity document to the service provider before they can make calls with the new SIM. Existing customers have up to a year from to get their SIM cards registered.
