Water shortage hits Gomoa West and Gomoa East districts

Agona Swedru, July 1, GNA – Water supply to about 35 communities in the Gomoa West and Gomoa East districts have cut off following the destruction of the main pipeline that carries water to them from the Agona Kwayanko Water Works by flooding that hit the area recently.

Some of the communities are Gomoa Dawurampong, Pinako, Afransi, Achaise, Gomoa Gyaman, Gomoa Obuasi, Gomoa AKrompong and Gomoa Lome. Mr Baffour-Addea, Agona West Municipal Manager of the Ghana Water Company, told the GNA that the company had contracted Dinal Company in Accra to reconstruct the pipeline to ensure early water restoration to the communities and appealed to the people in the people to bear with the company.

He said the company is offering tanker water supply at drastically reduced price to the affected communities and urged the people to use water economically during this difficult period.
