Tema, June 22, GNA – The bodies of two males who lost their lives following the heavy downpour in the Tema Metropolis, on Sunday, have been deposited at the Tema General Hospital.
Hajia Zenabu Abdulai, Tema Metropolitan Co-ordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation, (NADMO) said this, when Dr Kwasi Apea-Kubi, Deputy Minister of the Interior with the National NADMO Co-ordinator, Mr Kofi Portuphy and other officials, toured the affected areas within the Metropolis.
Hajia Abdulai told the dignitaries at the Naval Base that a total of 110 people, who were displaced by the floods around the lagoon at Tema Ne w Town, had been rescued by Navy officials.
She commended the Navy for the good job done, and said apart from feeding the victims, NADMO would do everything possible to supply them wi th relief items that could temporarily get them settled.
Some of the officials on the tour were a Minister of State, Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, a Member of the Council of State, Mr Emmanuel Adzei Anang, and the Greater-Accra Regional Minister, Nii Armah Ashietey.
The rest were Mr Joe Abbey, Acting Managing Director of Tema Development Corporation, Mr Robert Kempes Papa Nii Ofosuware, Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, and Mr Evans Ashong Narh, and Mrs Irene Naa
Torshie Addo, Members of Parliament for Tema East and West respectively. The dignitaries toured the affected areas in all the four constituencies within the Metropolis, namely, Ashaiman, Kpone-Katamanso, Tema East and West, to assess the extent of damage, and to console the victims.
They advised the residents to acquire genuine building documents and desist from putting up structures in waterways.
At Ashaiman, Numo Adinortey Addison, the Municipal Chief Executive,
told the dignitaries that so far 13 deaths had been recorded in the Municipality.
