Civil Servants Association says can’t guarantee peace if…

There is a growing discontent and dissatisfaction with the government’s casual attitude towards the issue of salaries in the Civil Service, the Civil Servants Association has revealed said.

Addressing a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, the President of the Association, Alhaji Ziblim Yakubu, said the process is too slow and “it is feared that if the enhanced salaries are not paid at the end of this month, the association cannot guarantee industrial peace in the civil service based on reports being received from the regions.”

The Government has already released 5.5billion cedis for the payment of medical bills for Civil Servants.

Alhaji Yakubu however said while the association is appreciative, it urged the government to handle the issue of the review of allowances and other conditions of service, including pensions in a similar manner.

Alhaji Yakubu who was commended the government’s response to the association’s ultimatum for the negotiation of new salaries in the public service, appealed to all civil servants to remain calm to allow the negotiations already started to progress in an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity.
