Chief Imam calls on Moslems to foster unity

Bole (N/R), June 9, GNA – The Bole Branch of the Islamic Council of Ghana has called on their Moslem brothers and sisters to unite as a famil y to promote peace towards the development of their areas. Mr Umar Sulemana, Chief Imam of Bole, was addressing the Council of Elders and the various sub Imams under his jurisdiction at a meeting. The

first of its kind, it was described as: “Meet the Imams” and held at the Bole District

Central Mosque. Discussions were on preparation towards the impending Ramadan and oth er major issues. It was concluded that the date of fasting should commence from the da y after the sighting of the crescent. The Chief Imam said all Moslems were supposed to start the Ramadan at

the same time and end in the same way. But, he said, the situation where some groups of Moslems start on different dates should end because it does not give a good impression abo ut Islam. 0
