Nana Akufo-Addo solicits for votes in Eastern Region

Koforidua, June 4, GNA – An aspiring presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has told delegates to the August 07 congress of the party that their votes would determine if the pace of development of the country would be faster or slower as is happening now.

He accused the President Mills administration of failing to honour all the electoral promises that he made to the electorate during the 2008 election.

Nana Akufo-Addo said in addition, the government of President Mills had destroyed all the good policies initiated by the NPP administration to give some relief to the poor and the marginalized espite the fact that the ruling party holds claim to social democratic philosophy He was speaking at a meeting with delegates of the New Juaben South Constituency of the party in Koforidua on Thursday to solicit their votes for the August Congress of the party.

Nana Akufo-Addo called for early solution to some new developments creeping into the party where leading members of the party who lost elections decided to fold their arms and look on. He reminded the delegates that the party lost the 2008 election because of petty squabbles among party executives at various levels and appealed to all to iron out their differences.

Nana Akufo-Addo reminded the delegates that they had been given a lot of responsibilities by the amendments made in the party’s constitution that would enable many polling station executives to vote. Mr Boakye Agyarko, a leading member of the party, said from all indications, the NPP would win the 2012 election but the party could achieve that only if the delegates elected a strong and dynamic presidential candidate.
