If you wonder how to do something, do it – “Foriwa”

Accra, May 27, GNA – “If you wonder how to do something, do it and wonder how you did it,” was the central theme of a dramatized play “Foriwa,” radiated in Accra on Thursday.

It formed part of the centenary festivities of the birth of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

The play depicted the dynamic nature of every society’s quest for development whilst exposing the manoeuvring schemes of few recalcitrant and self-seeking individual’s attempt to kick against it. The play, written by the late Efua Sutherland and directed by Mawuli Yaw Semevo, sent a strong signal to innovators to brace the odd through peaceful but militant means to effect change.

Erupting from an imaginary village “Kyerefaso,” a typical traditional adherent who incidentally enstoolled an “empowered woman,” as chief. The Queen mother (Chief) strategically instigated change on the eve of a sacred festival.

However, the quest for change and development was resisted by some of the elders of the Kyerefaso, who threatened her with destoolment but through feminism, wisdom, power and courage she conquered them and effected change paving way for transformation. Some of the revellers, who spoke to Ghana News Agency, complaint about the poor microphone position, which seriously affected its reverberation, whilst the mixture of local language “Twi” and English marred the flow of thought especially for the foreign audience. In spite of the microphone challenge, the stage was well set to symbolize a traditional village environment, whilst the cast also adored the appropriate costume emphasis the message. 27 May 10
