Assin North District Court to be upgraded

Assin-Fosu (C/R), May 24, GNA – The Chief Justice, Mrs Georgina Theodora Wood, said on Friday that the Assin North District Magistrate’s Court will be upgraded to a circuit court by October this year. The dilapidated structure housing the court has now been renovated while plans are afoot for the construction of a new court complex for the

area. At a forum to solicit public views on the construction of the Assin Fosu Court Complex, Mrs Wood observed that it was very pathetic for residents of the area to travel as far as Cape Coast and Kumasi to seek justice.

She, therefore, appealed to stakeholders to help hasten renovation works on the court to lessen the burden of having to travel to attend cou rt session. The Chief Justice urged the people to do away with litigation becaus e it slows down the wheels of socio-economic development. She asked the staff to work harder and also ensure the proper utilisation of the limited resources available for all to access justice with minimised hindrances. Mrs Wood praised the presiding magistrate of the area and his supporting staff for their dedication to duty and for accepting to work under strenuous conditions.

An Appeals Court Judge, Mr Justice Marful Sau, urged the public to h ave confidence in the judiciary and pledged that they will work hard to ensur e justice for all through the enforcement of the rule of law.
