Accra, May 21, GNA – The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has cautioned the public, especially churches and musicians, not to post posters indiscriminately on buildings and walls along the streets in the metropolis. Defaulters, the AMA warned, would face the full rigours of the law. Dr Simpson Anim Boateng, Director of AMA Public Health Unit, in an interview on Friday, stated that it was a criminal offence to post posters on buildings and walls without informing the AMA or the owners concerned. “It is a sheer act of indiscipline…despite enough public education for them to patronise the approved AMA bill boards erected at vantage points in the metropolis,” he added.
Dr Boateng gave the assurance that the Public Health Taskforce would mount vigorous routine inspections around Achimota, Abeka Lapaz, Dansoman, Kaneshie and other ceremonial streets to remove all posters posted without authority and were posing a nuisance along the streets of the capital. He warned that people who were interested in posting posters should respect the law that binds them to seek permission form the AMA to avoid being prosecuted. 21 May 10
