Consumers of telecommunication demand quality service

Accra, May 17, GNA – The Consumer Protection Agency (CPA), is to organise a massive demonstration on Thursday, May 27, against all telecommunication service providers operating in the country to demand quality service.

A statement issued in Accra on Monday and signed by Mr. Kofi Kapito,=

Chief Excusive Officer of (CPA), copied to Ghana News Agency said the gro= up, would present a petition to the Minister of Communications expressing the=

displeasure of Ghanaians about the poor quality of services provided by these telecommunication companies.

“The CPA is calling on Ghanaians to switch off their mobile phones f= rom 6:00 am to 12:00 noon on May 27 as a protest to signal to the telecommunication companies that without consumers, they do not exist,” i= t said. The statement said “the six-hour phone off would cost the telecommunication companies about six million dollars which would enable them to respect the right of consumers”. It said the demonstration would start from Kwame Nkumah Circle, at 9= :00 am and end at 2:00 pm, through High Street, to Rawlings Park, Kojo Thomps= on road, Kinbu Lane to Ministry of Communication, and proceed through Osu an= d end at Danquah Circle after a press conference. The statement said “We invite all consumers to join the demonstratio= n”.
